Abstract
In ‘The Last Drop of Tear’, twelve-year-old Rumasau, a Basic Six pupil in the city of Minna, has always been reminded by her mother to conserve water, prevent food wastage, avoid littering, leaving the lights on during the day or when not in use, and consuming energy-dense sacks. However, it isn’t until she visits her 90-year-old grandmother, Iyaa, in the village for her birthday that Rumasau discovers the true meaning of living sustainably. Iyaa’s remarkable agility and youthful spirit despite her age fascinate Rumasau, who learns the secrets behind her grandmother’s vitality.
