Love in the Time of Climate Change | By Jennifer Heaven Mike (Nigeria)

Abstract

In the coastal town of Dadur, Nnamaka, a passionate environmental scientist, and Sirous, a local artist and activist, join forces to address climate change through a unique collaboration of science and art. Their shared love for the environment and dedication to sustainability lead them to create a community exhibition titled “Love the Earth: A Journey Through Change,” blending Nnamaka’s scientific research with Sirous’s powerful murals. As they raise awareness about climate change, their relationship deepens, eventually sparking a movement in Dadur.

The exhibition, which tackles issues like overfishing, ocean acidification, and the greenhouse gases emitted by fishing practices, brings to light the link between environmental health and community action. Through their efforts, Nnamaka and Sirous not only advocate for sustainable practices but also inspire the local community to act against climate change.
